Editorial Overview
If you're curious regarding what could possibly be happy about a valley, simply glance above the bar for a blatant representation of this Flatiron club's namesake. Happy Valley very much feels like an homage to the dance clubs in the late 70's and 80's: A gigantic Disco ball above the bar serves as the DJ pod, the black-box theater feel of the room harkens back to the much simpler days of club decor, and the leopard print banquettes on the second level (mostly reserved for bottle service, though the area isn't necessarily set off as a VIP area) and florescent dancing cage conjure up a sort of sleazy yet humorous sexiness in clubs that you just don't see very often. The dance floor is on the small side, but its cake-tier type design is a welcome change from the usual layout. Crowds change nightly, though are usually a varied mix of rock types and scenesters coupled with a few Wall Streeters and outer-borough visitors. |
