Editorial Overview
The pieces de resistances of this Financial District lounge are the two circular 35-ton steel vault doors that date back to the early 20th Century, as Place's bar and adjoining restaurant formerly served as a bank and a secret board of directors meeting room. This all seems fitting since a gregarious Wall Street crowd takes over the mahogany paneled, red lamp lit bar area during Happy Hour each day, making this the establishment's busiest time. If you're not in a suit and/or not part of the Wall Street scene, you may feel a little left out. Better to admire the impressive, upscale gentleman's club-type space post Happy Hour if you're in the area and looking for a classy spot to hang out. |
